Journey Together – Trainer’s Pokémon and set guide

Pokémon SV9: Journey Together banner

Updated October 6, 2026.

A name like N’s Zoroark ex tells you more than just which Pokémon the card depicts. It also highlights the Trainer and the relationship the set is built around. Journey Together uses that connection as a starting point, featuring Pokémon associated with N, Iono, Lillie, and Hop.

The English expansion was released on March 28, 2025. If you recognize the Trainers from the Pokémon games, they can provide a clearer direction for your collection than trying to obtain every single rare card.

What are Trainer’s Pokémon?

Trainer’s Pokémon include the Trainer’s name as part of the card name. This is an important identifying detail when you are sorting, searching for cards, or building a deck. For example, N’s Zoroark ex should not be confused with other Zoroark cards.

Journey Together highlights several such pairs. You can choose cards by Trainer, by Pokémon, or by how they function together in the game.

Four starting points for your collection

  • N and N’s Zoroark ex: a starting point for collecting N’s Pokémon and associated Trainer cards.
  • Iono and Iono’s Bellibolt ex: for those who want to build a theme around Iono and her Pokémon.
  • Lillie and Lillie’s Clefairy ex: another opportunity to combine a fan-favorite Trainer with a Pokémon motif.
  • Hop and Hop’s Zacian ex: a collection path for anyone who likes Hop and Zacian.

These are examples of themes, not a list of today's most expensive cards. Check the complete card list before deciding which versions to include.

For players: the name can be part of the strategy

On cards with a Trainer theme, the card text may refer to specific Trainer’s Pokémon. Therefore, read the full name when checking which cards an effect applies to.

A concrete example is N’s Zoroark ex 098/159, which has the Trade ability and the Night Joker attack. The Pokémon strategy guide shows how the card can be used together with other N’s Pokémon. This illustrates why the collection's theme can also be relevant when you are building a deck.

Choose a product based on what you want to get out of your purchase

Journey Together is available in standard English product formats. In the Journey Together collection, you can compare the products we have in our assortment.

  • Booster packs: for a smaller opening budget.
  • Booster box: for more openings from the same expansion. Compare the price per pack.
  • Elite Trainer Box: when promos, storage, and other accessories are also part of the goal.

Check the language and exact contents on the product page. A certain number of boosters does not guarantee N’s Zoroark ex or any other card version. For a specific collection goal, single cards may make it easier to fill the gaps.

How to keep the project manageable

  1. Choose a Trainer to start with.
  2. Write down full card names, numbers, and desired variants.
  3. Mark cards you already have before buying more.
  4. Compare the same language and condition when searching for prices.

Our valuation guide helps you distinguish completed sales from asking prices. For your binder, we have sleeves and albums.

Journey Together or Destined Rivals?

If Trainer’s Pokémon is what appeals to you, you can also read about Destined Rivals, where Team Rocket, Cynthia, and Ethan, among others, provide different collection themes. Choose based on the characters and the card list that interest you, rather than general claims about which set is the best.
