Choose card stands and card holders based on the card's protection
Card stand, magnetic holder, or PSA stand?
A card stand displays the card or its holder. A magnetic holder encloses a loose card and closes with a magnet. A PSA stand is intended for a graded slab. Therefore, start with what you are going to place in the display: a loose card, a toploader, a magnetic holder, or a slab.
A stand does not automatically provide protection against dust, scratches, or sunlight. The card needs separate, suitable protection when the stand only keeps it upright.
Check card dimensions and thickness
Magnetic holders and One-Touch holders are sold for specific card dimensions and card thicknesses. The measurement 'pt' refers to the thickness, not the card's width or height. Check both details and use a model where the card fits without being compressed or bent.
Displaying graded cards
Choose a stand that explicitly fits the slab you have. A PSA stand does not necessarily fit slabs from other grading companies. Also, check the stand's support and the holder's dimensions.
Card stands for photography and shelves
Place the display on a stable surface and choose a stand that supports the holder without it tipping over. Avoid direct sunlight. UV protection should be stated in the specific product's information; it cannot be assumed for all stands or holders.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a stand or a card holder?
Choose a stand to keep the card or slab upright. Choose a card holder to enclose a loose card. Some combine both, but check that the holder fits in the stand.
Can a card in a sleeve be placed in a magnetic holder?
It depends on the design and inner dimensions of the holder. Use sleeves only if the product is intended for it. Do not force a sleeved card in and do not let the protection prevent the holder from closing.
Do all stands fit PSA cards?
No. Choose a stand whose product description indicates compatibility with PSA slabs and check for any limitations.
Complete the display
For storage, there are toploaders and semi-rigidsand card sleeves. To display sealed boxes instead of individual cards, choose acrylic boxes and display cases.
