Pokémon TCG expansions – list of English sets and dates

Here you will find English Pokémon TCG expansions from Base Set to modern series, organized by era with release dates. The list also includes certain separately named subsets, such as Trainer Gallery and Classic Collection.
Delimitation: The dates refer to English releases, not Japanese launches or Swedish stock status. Promo series, POP series, McDonald's releases, and other stand-alone collections are not included in the main list. The number of sets depends on how such releases and subsets are counted.
What is the difference between an era and an expansion?
An era, for example Scarlet & Violet, gathers several expansions. An expansion is a specific set with its own cards, such as Surging Sparks. Product names like Elite Trainer Box describe a product type, not a separate set.
How to find which set your card belongs to
Read the card number, set symbol, or set code at the bottom of the card. Match the name, number, language, and image with the correct release. Read our checklist for card numbers and valuable cards and valuation guide once you have identified the card.
English sets and release dates
The tables below contain 144 named sets and subsets in the specified selection. The dates are written year-month-day.
If you want to open cards from a certain set, you can compare Pokémon booster packs, booster boxes, and Elite Trainer Boxes. Not all expansions are available in all product types. Check the contents and set name in the product description.
Set names and historical release dates have been sourced from the open Pokémon TCG Data project. Current releases can be verified at Pokémon, including the 30th Celebration, September 16, 2026. Upcoming sets without a passed release date are not included in the tables.
