Start with the card's dimensions, any sleeve used, and the binder's format. The same binder pages can fit several card games, but the pocket must accommodate your specific card and its protection without the card bending. Football cards and other sports cards may have different dimensions or greater thickness.
9-pocket, 18-pocket, and pockets for toploaders
Compare how the manufacturer counts the pockets: per side or in total on a double-sided page. Also check the number of pages in the package. The pocket count in the model name is not always the same as the total card capacity of the entire package.
Cards in hard toploadersrequire special binder pages with larger pockets. A standard 9-pocket plastic sheet is not automatically designed for a toploader, and a 4-pocket page is not necessarily designed for one either.
